Another Proof of Nathanson’s Theorems

چکیده
In this paper, without using generating functions, we give new combinatorial proofs of several theorems by Nathanson on the representation functions, and we also obtain generalizations of these theorems.

Diagonal arguments and fixed points
A universal schema for diagonalization was popularized by N.S. Yanofsky (2003), based on a pioneering work of F.W. Lawvere (1969), in which the existence of a (diagonolized-out and contradictory) object implies the existence of a fixed-point for a certain function. It was shown that many self-referential paradoxes and diagonally proved theorems can fit in that schema. Here, we fi...
متن کاملAnother proof of Banaschewski's surjection theorem
We present a new proof of Banaschewski's theorem stating that the completion lift of a uniform surjection is a surjection. The new procedure allows to extend the fact (and, similarly, the related theorem on closed uniform sublocales of complete uniform frames) to quasi-uniformities ("not necessarily symmetric uniformities"). Further, we show how a (regular) Cauchy point on a closed uniform subl...
متن کاملOn the Closed-Form Solution of a Nonlinear Difference Equation and Another Proof to Sroysang’s Conjecture
The purpose of this paper is twofold. First we derive theoretically, using appropriate transformation on x(n), the closed-form solution of the nonlinear difference equation x(n+1) = 1/(±1 + x(n)), n ∈ N_0. The form of solution of this equation, however, was first obtained in [10] but through induction principle. Then, with the solution of the above equation at hand, we prove a case ...
متن کاملAnother Proof of Theorems of De Concini and Procesi * Dedicated to Professor Kei-ichi Watanabe on the Occasion of His Sixtieth Birthday
We give a new proof of some characteristic-free fundamental theorems in invariant theory first proved in C. De Concini and C. Procesi, A characteristic free approach to invariant theory, Adv. Math. 21 (1976), 330–354. We treat the action of the general linear group and the symplectic group. Our approach is geometric, and utilizes the fact that the categorical quotients are principal fiber bundl...
